About

About

Iris Development is active in new construction and substantial rehabilitation of mixed-income rental communities and affordable home ownership. Our investment strategy, which focuses on those areas that show a balanced combination of unrealized promise yet strong fundamentals, allows for wealth creation for residents, communities, and Iris and its investors alike. Our base, the resilient Crescent City, is a guiding example for this, as a place where doing well and doing good are inextricably linked.

Our offices are located in Central Harlem and Central New Orleans. We are inspired by both New Orleans and Harlem’s dynamic urban environment, its vibrancy and its diversity. Locally, our collaborations seek to enliven and improve the city’s built environment and promote social, ecological and economic progress. Today, Iris Development manages an active development pipeline totaling over 400 units located in New Orleans and New York City.

Community

Real Estate Development is a capital-intensive business and Iris is ever aware that its stewardship of millions of project dollars creates an opportunity to combat persistent wealth disparities across racial lines. Thus, Iris strives to match project spending with the demographics of the communities where we work, from professional services to construction dollars. Further, Iris is seeking ways to reduce the barrier to entry for non-traditional investors, creating opportunities to gain wealth through real estate ownership that have been elusive.

Team

Iris Development consists of a multidisciplinary team with a wide range of skills and expertise, for the sourcing, the continuing and the realization of its daily activities and projects. These technical, legal, financial and project-specific specialists have a wide range of competences in real estate. Wendy, Curtis and Immanuel met at Columbia University where they studied for a M.S. in Real Estate Development.

Iris Development is a certified State and Local Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (SLDBE) by the City of New Orleans’ Office of Supplier Diversity and a Minority-owned Business Enterprises (MBE) by the New York City Department of Small Business Services.
